Rachel is a graphic designer specializing in editorial and type design based in Baltimore. She graduated from Johnson & Wales with a BFA in Creative Advertising, then pursued a master’s degree in graphic design at Politécnico de Leiria in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.
She now runs a freelance company, Vil Studio LLC, providing branding, editorial, and type design services. She also volunteers at the Baltimore Museum of Industry in the print studio and is excited to learn how to operate the linotype machine.
What’s on your desk that you could not live without?
My external hard drive, Pantone guide, and my sketch pad.
What sparks creativity for you?
Analog practices including unconventional materials such as clay, playing with shadows, or plants. Also, if I also find museums to be very inspiring.
What are some of your hobbies?
Maintaining my garden plot in the community garden.
