Meet the Board | Samantha Frost, Interactive Web Chair

Samantha is a Baltimore-based graphic designer. She earned her MFA in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She brings creativity into tech and curates memorable user experiences that stand out. Her work explores the intersections of motion, sound, typography, user experience, and interface design to ignite meaningful conversations.

What’s your biggest challenge as a designer or creative?

One challenge has been work-life balance. I get so deeply absorbed in my projects that I sometimes forget to breathe. I love what I do, but I have to remind myself that rest fuels creativity just as much as work does. I’ve been trying to embrace stepping away from the screen and spending time in nature or listening to music.

What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?

A piece of advice that has stuck with me is to take a step back from your work. Sometimes we can get lost in the details and lose sight of the big picture. Taking breaks and coming back with fresh eyes is key.

What are your top 3 favorite books or movies? (doesn’t have to be design-related)

  1. Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë
  2. Pieces of April, Peter Hedges
  3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Michel Gondry

What’s one tool, object, or routine that helps you get through the workday?

My morning coffee motivates me. I love a homemade cup of coffee most days, but sometimes I’ll treat myself to a specialty drink from a local cafe.

What sparks creativity for you?

Walking in nature always inspires me. I love using soft, delicate colors that naturally occur in the clouds, plant life, and bodies of water in my work. Listening to music is another excellent source of inspiration.

What do you love doing outside of design?

I love making songs, singing, and playing piano!
