Originally from La Paz, Bolivia, Carla Viviana Cordova (Viviana) is a graphic designer, educator, and interdisciplinary thinker with 15 years of teaching experience. She holds both a BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration in Interactive Media and an MFA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her work explores the relationship between traditional art, design, digital media, storytelling, and code. She brings a cross-cultural perspective to her teaching and creative research, blending visual rhythms with contemporary digital practices. Viviana currently teaches graphic design at Towson University’s College of Fine Arts and Communication and has previously taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), UMBC, and other institutions. She lives and works in Maryland, USA.
What’s your biggest challenge as a designer or creative?
Being able to connect and understand new ways of design thinking.
What’s a piece of advice that has stuck with you?
I’ve learned that patience isn’t passive; it’s the art of breathing while the storm passes.
