Ink & Pixels 2026: Connecting with the Baltimore Community

Ink & Pixels is our annual portfolio review: connecting emerging designers with seasoned professionals to be better prepared for the creative industry!

Ink & Pixels 2026 brought the Baltimore design community together for a full day inside the A. Hoen & Co. Lithograph Building. The focus this year centered on multidisciplinary practice and how designers are expanding beyond traditional roles in their work.

Phim Her gave a direct and practical webinar on portfolio presentation. Drawing from her work as a career coach and counselor, she shared her insights into how designers can better position themselves and speak to their value.
Natalia Celine Arias opened the day with a keynote grounded in identity and community. They spoke about shaping a creative voice through lived experience and the responsibility that comes with representing culture and story in design.

Lyon van den Oord closed the conversation with a look at motion design as a way to communicate design thinking. His session reframed the portfolio as an active tool that shows process and intention as much as final output.

Throughout the day, attendees moved between talks, live demos, and portfolio reviews, with time set aside for connection across experience levels. Students, emerging designers, and seasoned creatives shared space in a way that felt open and engaged.
