This fall, Baltimore’s 6th Annual Design Week is back! Join us in October for another week-­long celebration of design and designers in Baltimore.

From Monday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 21, enjoy a series of presentations, workshops, and social events, all curated to inspire, strengthen, and showcase the Baltimore design community.

Design Week 2017: UX Storytelling in Multi-functional Spaces

Design Week 2017: Art of (Re)Branding – An Evening of Insights + Exercises

Join Natasha Jen of Pentagram and six local creatives as they explore the when, why, and how of the rebranding process.

Natasha Jen kicks off the event, sharing insights from her work at Pentagram such as the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream rebrand and the Border City project. She will be joined by David Ashton of Ashton Design, Illiah Manger of C&V Creative Studio, Amber Schleuning and Melissa Chapman of the VA Center for Innovation, and Paul Bianco and Dustin Fritz of ORANGEHAT.

Join us for a sneak peek at Jack Kirby Unbound! at the Spur Gallery before it opens to the public. Exhibit will feature original art, comics, posters, and enlarged reproductions that celebrate the 100th birthday of the King of Comics! Includes a gallery talk by illustrator, designer, and Kirby enthusiast David Plunkert.

Design Week 2017: Design + Activism

Join AIGA Baltimore and Bowie State University for as they host ex-Minister of Culture for the Black Panthers, Emory Douglass who will discuss the intersection of Design and Activism.

Emory Douglas became politically involved at the age of 24 as Revolutionary Artist and then Minister of Culture for the Black Panther party. Mr. Douglas™s powerful images portrayed through the party™s newspapers, posters and pamphlets spoke to social injustices experienced by black and other oppressed people in the U.S. and around the world. While his works often address issues of race, it also exudes empowerment in the face of poverty, discrimination, and imperialism.
