Ink & Pixels 2025

AIGA Baltimore is excited for another year of Ink & Pixels, one of our most anticipated events! Our goal is to empower designers at every stage of their careers.

When: Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Event Overview: Morgan State University is Maryland’s preeminent public urban research university and the only university to be designated a National Treasure. Founded in 1867, the Baltimore-based HBCU provides excellence in higher education.

Whether you’re an emerging designer, a seasoned professional, or looking to change careers, we’re offering a full day of education and networking opportunities to help designers prepare for the workforce and to have your portfolios reviewed!​

  • 10:45 AM – 11:00 AM: Opening Remarks from AIGA Baltimore Board and Morgan State University Representatives​
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Keynote Speaker: Perry Sweeper​
  • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (Catering details to be announced)​
  • 1:10 PM – 3:30 PM: Portfolio Reviews with industry professionals, including Jenn Crim and Monique Jenkins​.
  • 3:40 PM – 4:00 PM: Closing Remarks/Adjourn​

Keynote Speakers:

Dr. Perry Sweeper

Dr. Perry Sweeper has worked as a design practitioner across industries ranging from higher education to government and media. His experience includes work on design, branding, and art-based marketing projects for The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post, Vitamin Water, Heineken, and Nike.

His recent book, Design at an HBCU, catalogs the history of the graphic design curriculum at Morgan State University and its partnership with AIGA. Dr. Sweeper received a Doctor of Science in Information and Interaction Design (D.S) from the University of Baltimore and a Bachelor of Arts from Morgan State University.

Jenn Crim

Jenn is an organic social media professional who is passionately curious, adaptable, and innovative. With 10+ years in social media management, she’s developed experience across content creation, community management, social media strategy, audience acquisition, driving engagement, and storytelling through a uniquely organic, social-first approach. Blending a background in film and TV with a graphic design and marketing degree, she landed in Music City, Nashville, Tennessee where she is currently the Senior Manager of Social Media Strategy at Opry Entertainment Group, contributing to Ryman Auditorium, Ole Red, Austin City Limits Live and Category 10’s social media efforts. Outside of work, she’s a passionate reader, volunteer, and hiker.

Monique Jenkins

Monique Jenkins is the visionary founder and CEO of Creative & Creator (C&C), a bold and purpose-driven design agency based in Baltimore, Maryland. With a deep passion for storytelling, user experience, and socially impactful design, Monique leads her agency with the mission to reshape the creative industry by centering the voices of women, non-binary, and BIPOC creatives. Her work is rooted in empathy, community, and legacy—values that guide every brand, website, and digital experience her team creates. Beyond her agency work, Monique is also the co-host of The Design Imposter podcast, where she explores the realities of imposter syndrome in the creative world and uplifts the voices of those often overlooked in the industry. Monique is committed to building a more inclusive future—one powerful story at a time.

 

 

Portfolio Reviews:

Attendees will present their portfolios to experienced designers in a supportive, non-competitive, safe space. Each attendee will receive constructive feedback to polish their portfolio and presentation skills.​

Parking:

Free parking is available in the “Y” lot, accessible from Argonne Drive via McCallum Drive. Overflow parking is available in the university parking garage next to the stadium.​
