Machang is a Maryland based self-taught artist and designer with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Howard University. She is an advocate for expanding the access to art and design education and experience. When Machang is not growing her knowledge in design you can catch her drawing, gaming, drinking (craft beers and cocktails mostly), shopping, watching reality tv reviews on YouTube, collecting cards, reading, or making art cards. She’s also returning to the practice of martial arts and started picking up sewing and crocheting. 

What’s your biggest challenge as a designer or creative?

Understanding categories and finding detailed information to develop a new skill if I become interested in it.

What sparks creativity for you?

To be very honest I’m not really sure. I believe it’s very internal. It just comes from my thoughts or ideas I’ve seen or things around me or a mood for the day or someone I notice. It emerges from within but it can be sparked by anything.

I’m also returning to martial arts for my hobbies and I’m trying to pick up sewing and crocheting. I’ve also been more frequent with my art journals.
