Product design can be a complicated process, and graphic design entrepreneur Alyson Beaton is ready to dish on the good, the bad, and the ugly. Alyson has always found inspiration in the world around her, but it wasn't until architecture school that she discovered her true love of design. Since then, she’s launched several product lines, including Grow Books Press, Lille Huset dollhouses, and Marketote. Her work has been featured in several publications, and her Lille Huset line is now distributed to stores near and far.
On Wednesday, October 21, Alyson will join us for a breakfast talk on what it’s like to launch a product line as the sole designer. She’ll share the mistakes she’s made, what she wishes she knew before launching her first company, and why failure is essential to the product design process.
The talk will take place at OrderUp, a startup online food ordering and credit card processing service headquartered in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore. Jesse Muniz of the OrderUp team will follow Alyson’s talk to discuss how design and supply chain skills lead to entrepreneurial success.
Light breakfast fare will be provided.
