Community Meeting | The People’s Graphic Design Archive

The AIGA Baltimore Community Meeting returns on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. We will start with a conversation about inclusive graphic design history with Brockett Horne, designer, educator, writer, and co-director of The People’s Graphic Design Archive, and end with an overview of AIGA Baltimore opportunities and events.

Who:

Everyone is welcome— members, non-members, designers, non-designers, and beyond. If you have a desire to see our community grow and flourish then we urge you to join us. Whether you're new to the area, new to AIGA, ready to get involved, or just curious about what's going on in the Baltimore creative community, this meeting is a great place to get started.

The StarTUp at the Armory is TU’s front door for start-ups, small businesses, as well as our region’s largest corporations. This state-of-the art 26,000 sq. ft. space includes 6,000 sq. ft. of free co-working space and meeting rooms where entrepreneurs and executives can connect with each other and to TU’s programs and people.

Brockett Horne

Brockett Horne is a writer, designer, and educator. She is a faculty member in graphic design at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, where she teaches studio, history, and theory courses. With Briar Levit and Louise Sandhaus, she collaborates on The People’s Graphic Design Archive, a crowd-sourced online platform that enables new and expanded stories about graphic design history.

Her goal is to encourage audiences to examine *how* they are looking through reflexive approaches that engage clients and users in the creative process.

Her creative practice includes designing catalogs, websites, digital media expressions, brand systems, and other tools that help organizations express their unique strengths.

The People's Graphic Design Archive is a crowd-sourced virtual archive that aims to expand, diversify, and preserve graphic design history.
