Baltimore Design Week 2019 Banner

Join us for the first-ever AIGA Baltimore Design Month!

This October, AIGA Baltimore is breaking the tradition of our annual Design Week to host a full month-long celebration of design and designers in Baltimore and beyond. Through a series of online presentations, offline activities, and social(ly distant) events, we hope to inspire, strengthen, and showcase the Baltimore design community.

Our theme for this month is UNIQUE & UNITED. Throughout this crazy year, we’ve seen the creative community come together to help each other out and make meaningful change. When quarantine forced us to isolate, we broke down physical barriers and connected virtually across the city, state, and country lines. When racial injustice tried to divide us, we celebrated each other’s uniqueness. We need unity—especially now—and that’s why we’re so excited to bring you this special month of content.

Check back for updates throughout the month, and share your excitement online with the hashtag #BmoreDM20. Be sure to follow AIGA Baltimore on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and subscribe to our newsletter so you don’t miss one day.

Social Media/Anywhere!

Unique & United is the theme for this year’s Baltimore Design Month and it’s time to get outside. Look for the letters of our theme at home, on the street, or wherever you find yourself, then create a collage of letters spelling “Unique & United.” Share to social media using our hashtag #BmoreDM20 and tagging @aigabaltimore, and we’ll reshare your creations throughout the month! Submit your collage by the 13th for a chance to win a Skillshare subscription.

Who’s invited… Students, professionals, and friends alike are invited to our creative community for some laid-back networking. Not an AIGA member? Not a designer? No problem! We love to meet new people, so stop by and bring a friend or colleague with you. We will be sitting in groups of six with the opportunity to rotate to other tables.

Tuesday, October 6: IG Live at @aigabaltimore | No registration required

Tuesday, October 13: Zoom Webinar
12:00–1:00 PM

Join us for an informal interview with Tré Seals on Instagram, on Oct. 6th, 12pm, and for a longer presentation followed by a discussion on Zoom, on Oct. 13th, 12pm-1pm.

AIGA Baltimore, Society of Design Arts, and Stevenson University co-host these online events with Tré Seals, founder of Vocal Type Co. With the mission of diversifying design (through type), Seals has crafted a catalog of fonts that tell the stories of various underrepresented races, ethnicities, and genders—from the Women’s Suffrage Movement in Argentina to the Civil Rights Movement in America. And the rest is history.
