Let's create a city where design thrives! And let's do it by making design attainable, by proving its impact, and by uniting people more deeply in Baltimore with each other. AIGA Baltimore is excited to announce our next Community Meeting, and everyone is invited—AIGA members, non-members, designers, non-designers and beyond. If you have a desire to see our community grow and flourish then we urge you to join us. Whether you're new to the area, new to AIGA, ready to get involved or just curious about what's going on in the Baltimore creative community, this monthly meeting is a great place to get started.
This January, AIGA Baltimore invites you to SlimTech, a product design studio where founder Joshua Lohr and his team make the world’s smartest wallet out of wood, carbon and other materials. They also pledge to plant a seed for every wooden wallet they sell. To learn more, visit www.slimtechgear.com.
You, as an attendee, will also have the opportunity to contribute your ideas to the conversation and connect with other creatives. We want to make sure everyone gets what they want out of these meetings, so please help drive the discussion, and place your vote in our Facebook Poll with your ideas on the direction of the design community for the new year: https://www.facebook.com/events/1631074130285834/permalink/1631152233611357/
We'll also discuss our yearly recap and participate in shaping the activities of upcoming community meetings and other AIGA Baltimore events!
This event is FREE and open to the public, however space is limited (up to 40), so please be courteous to others and plan to attend if you register. SlimTech is located on Union Avenue. Please see parking instructions below.
In case you are unfamiliar with the slimTECH location (1750 Union Avenue, Suite H, Baltimore, MD 21211), please see the linked map. There are parking areas circled if you are in the mood for a brief walk, however the slimTECH team has agreed to meet attendees closer to the studio to help with parking. The shop is directly behind Stephanie Bradshaw and Alpha Graphics, if you are familiar with those businesses.
If you are coming from Falls Road to Union Avenue, continue on Union Avenue over the railroad tracks and take an immediate right onto Union Avenue back over the tracks (the road that runs beside the warehouse where slimTECH is located). If you attended the meeting at Mozell Films, you will be familiar with this road. Continue along that road until you come to someone who will direct you to a parking place.
If you will be taking public transportation, the Woodberry light rail stop is very close to the warehouse.
If you are lost or have questions about parking, please call Marshall Taylor of slimTECH at 919-656-6140.
Note that the Union Brewing Company parking lot on the same side as slimTECH's studio will be CLOSED.
