Adelaide Ritter is a lead designer and illustrator with over a decade of professional experience. Adelaide is committed to using her diverse skillset to transform brands and elevate marketing solutions. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Central Florida and currently serves as Lead Designer for HMH, a global K-12 education technology organization, where she supports the Brand & Creative team and helps to lead the company’s internal LGBTQ+ Pride employee resource group.

Adelaide is passionate about mentorship and creative community building. She has been involved with AIGA since 2014 and is always looking for new opportunities to lend her time and expertise to supporting a more inclusive, connected, and sustainable design industry.

What’s your biggest challenge as a designer or creative?

Making time to balance my design and illustration work with passion projects. With all of the demands of day-to-day life, I’ve found that it’s important to be intentional about carving out space to fulfill my creative needs both personally and professionally.

What are your top 3 favorite books or movies? (doesn’t have to be design-related)

• Lord of the Rings trilogy (books, movies, anything!)

What’s one tool, object, or routine that helps you get through the workday?

A change of scenery. As a remote worker, I like to switch things up throughout the day to keep from feeling too sedentary.

What sparks creativity for you?

Nature, travel, and creative media outside of design (books, fine art, films, music, shows). I always find myself rejuvenated by the outdoors, a new travel destination, or a good museum visit. I’m also constantly excited about at least one book, show, or movie, and a lot of my passion projects stem from those interests.

What do you love doing outside of design?

I love to travel, garden, and bake in my spare time. I’m also a voracious reader (and occasional hobby writer)!
