Meet the Board | Bryan Burke, Partnerships Director

A competitive sailor, avid cyclist, and creative renaissance-man, Bryan has expertise in social media design, video production, motion design, UX/UI design, and more. He began perfecting his skills at a student-run advertising agency he started at Missouri State University and quickly broke into the profession as a freelancer and then content designer at Nestle Purina Petcare during his time in St. Louis, Mo. He also served on the AIGA STL chapter board for 4 years as Mentorship Co-Chair and then VP of Communications.

Baltimore became his new home in 2019 and he currently works at idfive as a digital media designer. Starting off as the Communications Director in 2019 for the Baltimore chapter, he now serves as Partnership Director for a 2021–2023 term. If you don’t catch him at an AIGA DC or AIGA Bmore event, you may just happen to run into him at a concert as he’s a frequent concert-goer.

What’s your favorite quote/philosophy?

Our sense of time influences what we complete in a day’s time, but what we achieve in a day is only a small part of what we are capable of.

Favorite concert you’ve ever been to?

Seeing the band ODESZA at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. They are normally a 2 person electronic band, but when they perform live they bring in a whole drumline and varying instruments. A fun fact is that in 2019 I went to 45 concerts in total.

What are your top 3 favorite movies?

  1. Lord of the Rings Original Trilogy
  2. The Shining
  3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

What’s on your desk that you could not live without?

For me, it would probably be speakers or headphones. They are what supply me with music that helps give me the fuel I need while designing throughout the day.

What sparks creativity for you?

I’d have to say that listening to music can help get me going in the right direction. Beyond that, it’s the spirit and energy felt around those I work with and for that help to inspire me.

What are some of your hobbies?

You can often find me racing sailboats in downtown Baltimore on Tuesday nights or down in Annapolis for some beer can racing on the weekdays. I do some traveling around the country for regattas and races. Been sailing since I was 8 years old. Biking also happens to be a fun hobby of mine. I own 4 different types of bikes for an assortment of adventures. But mostly you can find me riding my black and yellow fixie around Baltimore and surrounding areas.
