Women Lead Initiative Meetup

Are you passionate about empowering women in design? Are there issues that you, in the design community, want to address? We're with you.

On June 26, AIGA Baltimore and the national AIGA Women Lead Initiative will be continuing the conversation from our March Community Meeting. We want your input, so join us at Mary Gardella Photography Studio in Hampden for our second meeting. These meetings tie into AIGA's Double or Nothing,” a movement to ultimately double the number of women leaders in design. This movement is larger than Baltimore, and we believe the place to start a change is in our own neighborhoods.

The AIGA Women Lead Initiative (WLI) is committed to empowering women in design and advancing the vital discourse on issues facing professional women today without generalizing or segregating women designers. Instead, we aim to address persistent biases and inequities inclusively and constructively through programming around three goals:

  • Celebrate the achievements of women in design.

  • Cultivate awareness of gender-related issues, while building knowledge and leadership skills.

  • Connect by facilitating relationships within and beyond the design industry.

Who should attend?

  • EVERYONE!

  • Professionals interested in supporting women in leadership.

  • People of all genders who are engaged in their community and interested in being part of the conversation.

TENTATIVE AGENDA

  • Recap from last meeting (event description is here)

  • Focus on two strong ideas and discuss ways to advance these ideas

MEETING FORMAT

We’re strong believers that through collaboration and conversation we can work together to solve complex problems. The WLI meetup will be a place for us to move forward with the initiative, but more importantly, to engage everyone in the conversation. This meeting will not include a predetermined goal, but will rather facilitate an open format discussion. Our aim is to move naturally towards a common interest and build something together. Come prepared to share your thoughts, questions, and ideas!

This event is FREE and open to the public, however, space is limited (up to 40), so please be courteous to others and plan to attend if you register.
